The Joys of Winter Travel!

Winter is approaching, you can tell! There is an ever so slight, nip in the air. The nights have turned foggy. The mornings crisp and fresh! The Sun warm and welcoming! For many, winters have an aura, a charm and an allure of romance and thrill. For me, winters bring back a whole lot of memories. The sweet smell and crisp morning air of Ooty, Snowfalls in Manali, sipping on exquisite Darjeeling Tea in a heritage hotel in Sikkim, the magnetism of pure nature in Munnar, the sweeping views of Panchgani, the list is endless!

Travelling in Winter sure is fun! For people from the tropical, sweaty cities of India, winter sure is the time to travel. So dust your leather jacket and pack up for a week of Romance and Thrill. Personally I prefer going to a place which lets you enjoy the crisp, chilly weather. A lot of people on the other hand head to the beaches for relaxation and peace! A lot of foreign tourists do head for the beaches in India during the winters. Whatever your choice, Travel is a must!

Let’s explore a few options …

Kashmir: The quintessential paradise on Earth! With tourism now resuming in Kashmir, people are travelling to Kashmir in ever increasing numbers. A whole generation of Indians grew up seeing Kashmir in the romantic movies of the 70s, but never got the chance to travel to Kashmir. The snowscapes of Gulmarg, the houseboats in the mist on Dal Lake and the majestic Himalayas! Magic by Mother Nature! This page here gives a glimpse into what Kashmir is in Winter! The holiday package listed on this page is comprehensive, yet economical!

Bhutan: Bhutan is a modern day Shangri-La! A mystical country nestled high in the Himalayas. The influences of the modern world continue to elude this state! Gross National Happiness is their measure of wealth! Very conveniently accessible to tourists these days! Check out this page which has a comprehensive package for Blissful Bhutan! Discover this gem of a country during winters!

Dooars: Winters are especially great for travel to some of the National Parks. Chances of spotting wildlife are considerably higher in the Winters. Don’t forget to pack your zoom lenses! The call of the jungle, irresistible to many. Head over here to plan your trip to the foothills of the Himalayas! An undiscovered nook of Incredible India!

Kerala: Kerala offers an unique double blend of sunny backwaters of Alleppey and the chilly estates of Munnar!  It has a bit of both. Nothing better than Kerala for a fun filled family holiday! The house boats of Alleppey take you through this most magical journey through the backwaters of Kerala. Gives you a glimpse into the life in the hamlets of Kerala! Better in winter since Kerala is usually wet and rainy most of rest of the year. This page here gives an itinerary of what is essentially the best of Kerala.

Andamans: For those who prefer lapping up the sunny goodness of the winters, head over to the isles of Andaman. Sunny and crystalline, winters are the best time to visit the Andamans. Now a much-improved tourist destination with all kinds of creature comforts, the Andamans are a sought-after destination. This link here gives you that exotic packaged holiday. Check it out!
