History of Taj Mahal
Everyone knows Taj Mahal as a symbol of immortal love of a husband for his beloved wife. Taj Mahal was built in memory of Mumtaz Mahal, the beloved wife of Mughal Emporer Sah-Jahan. Mumtaz Mahal was a Muslim Persian
princess. Before marriage, her name was Arjumand Banu Begum. It was 14 years
old Shah Jahan who met with Arjumand Banu and fell in love with her. And five
years later they got married in the year 1612. Mumtaz died in the year 1631
giving birth to their 14th child. After that the construction of Taj
Mahal started in the year 1631 and it took 22 years to complete.
The stonecutters, painters, masons, calligraphers had come from central Asia
and Iran. After the expenditure approximately 32 million, Taj Mahal was finally
completed in the year 1653. But in the year 1658 Shah Jahan was deposed by his
own son Aurangzeb and confined Shah Jahan in his own palace near-by Agra Fort.
